Android Key Lime Pie 4.2 launching on October 29th?
Android Key Lime Pie may be a mouthful to say but what it'll bring to the rumoured LG Nexus 4 Smartphone is a whole host of new features to combat iOS 6
Google are set to unveil Android Key Lime Pie at their event in New York. The updated Android 4.2 is set to be unleashed on new Google Nexus devices on October 29th according to reports.
The Next Web has sources that have revealed that alongside the updated version of Android there will be a variety of new devices introduced including a new Nexus smartphone and a Retina Display-rivalling 10-inch tablet made by Samsung.
Key Lime Pie is part of Google’s drive to compete with Apple’s operating system and is expected to come with a new panoramic camera mode including both horizontal and vertical movement that is similar to iOS 6 and an updated version of Google Now.
The LG Nexus 4 is also rumoured to be launched in New York with a 1.5 Ghz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro, 2GB RAM, a 1280-by-768 pixel display, 16GB storage, an 8-Megapixel rear facing camera and a 2100mAh battery.
The Nexus 4 has been extensively leaked by several sources over the last week or so and is almost certain to be the new Nexus smartphone.
Google are also expected to update their Nexus 7 tablet to include 32GB storage and may also include a variant with 3G or 4G connectivity.
The most exciting news must be reports of a 10.1-inch Samsung tablet with a better than Retina Display beating 300 pixels-per-inch. The Samsung built tablet will have a 2560x1600 pixel display which would be identical to the rumoured resolution of the new 13-inch retina MacBook Pro and a higher resolution than the third-generation retina iPad.
T3 will have the latest coverage of everything that Google unveils on Monday 29th October.

Android 4.1, Jelly Bean: The world's most popular platform gets even better
Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, is the fastest and smoothest version of Android yet. Jelly Bean improves on the simplicity and beauty of Android 4.0, and introduces a new Google search experience on Android.
Fast & smooth
We put Android under a microscope, making everything feel fast, fluid, and smooth. With buttery graphics and silky transitions, moving between home screens and switching between apps is effortless, like turning pages in a book.
More reactive and uniform touch responses mean you can almost feel the pixels beneath as your finger moves across the screen. Jelly Bean makes your Android device even more responsive by boosting your device's CPU instantly when you touch the screen, and turns it down when you don't need it to improve battery life.
Simple, beautiful and beyond smart
Expandable, actionable notifications.
Android has always put you in control when it comes to staying notified and connected. Now you can take action directly from the notifications shade. Late for a meeting? Email everyone to let them know. Missed a call? Call them back in an instant. And because they’re expandable, you can get an even deeper look into the things that matter most, like multiple emails or photos on Google+.
Widgets work like magic.
With Jelly Bean it's now even easier to personalize your home screen. As you place widgets on the screen, everything else automatically moves to make room. When they're too big, widgets resize on their own. Interacting with your favorite apps and customizing your home screen has never been easier.
Seamlessly take and share photos.
Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, made snapping photos super fast; Jelly Bean brings that same speed to the next step: viewing. Just swipe over from camera to filmstrip view to instantly view the photos you just took, and quickly swipe away the ones you don’t like. Now sharing — and bragging — are a breeze.
A smarter keyboard.
Android's dictionaries are now more accurate, more relevant. The language model in Jelly Bean adapts over time, and the keyboard even guesses what the next word will be before you've started typing it. With improved text-to-speech capabilities, voice typing on Android is even better; it works even when you don't have a data connection, so you can type with your voice everywhere you go.
Accessibility.
With Jelly Bean, blind users can use 'Gesture Mode' to reliably navigate the UI using touch and swipe gestures in combination with speech output. Jelly Bean also adds support for accessibility plugins to enable external Braille input and output devices via USB and Bluetooth.
Android Beam.
With Android Beam on Jelly Bean you can now easily share your photos and videos with just a simple tap, in addition to sharing contacts, web pages, YouTube videos, directions, and apps. Just touch two NFC-enabled Android devices back-to-back, then tap to beam whatever's on the screen to your friend. Instantly pair your Android phone or tablet to Bluetooth® devices like headsets or speakers that support the Simple Secure Pairing standard by just tapping them together – no more syncing or searching required.

ith the Samsung Galaxy S3 but four months old, rumours have already started to do the rounds about a sequel to the South Korean phone-maker’s flagship Android kit.Citing unnamed supply chain sources, as well as what we’re guessing are some better informed sorts within Samsung, the Korea Times claims that the phone will land in February at the Mobile World congress
The handset is apparently set to hit retailers shortly after in March – just nine months after the release of its predecessor.
In news that’s unlikely to surprise anyone on nodding terms with prevailing trends in smartphone upgrades, Samsung’s new kit will purportedly pack a larger five-inch OLED screen – up from the S3’s 4.8-inches - and international 4G LTE support.
An unnamed deepthroat said: “Samsung wants to keep its one-year product schedule and the Galaxy S4 will be the first to match that strategy.
“The S4 will see some external changes but retain its popular rectangular shape with rounded corner concept
News of Samsung’s plans comes as it recently announced that the S3 has now sold some 20 million units, making it the company’s fastest-selling phone ever. korea time
How to root your android device and why you might want to
You’ve probably heard of people “rooting” their Android phones. If you’ve ever wondered how to do that yourself – or wondered why people would bother – you’re in luck. You can root your Android in just a few minutes.
After rooting your device, you have full access to the entire system and can run special types of apps that require root permissions. These apps can disable bloatware, control app permissions, enable tethering, and do lots of other cool things.
Android is based on Linux. On Linux and other UNIX-like operating systems, the root user is equivalent to the Administrator user on Windows. The root user has access to the entire operating system and can do anything. By default, you don’t have root access to your Android device, and certain apps won’t function without root access.
With root access, you can disable the bloatware that comes with your phone, manually deny app permissions, run a firewall, access the entire file system, or tether your device, even if tethering functionality has been disabled. You’ll find many apps that require root access in the Google Play store (formerly known as the Android Market), although they won’t function until you root your device.
Rooting isn’t mandatory – you only need to root your device if you want to do things that require root access.
Before you root your Android phone or tablet, there are a few things you should be aware of:
Bricking –
Rooting a device is a very safe process. However, there’s always some danger of “bricking” a device when you go outside the normal parameters and hack around with it — particularly if you’re trying to root a device or operating system version not supported by a tool. “Bricking” refers to breaking the device, making it about as useful as a brick. When you root, jailbreak, or install a custom ROM, or otherwise hack around, you do so at your own risk. It’s a good idea to do a little bit of research first and see if other people report success rooting your device.
Setup
The actual rooting process itself should only take a single click. However, you’ll need to do a few quick things first:
Download and install the Java JDK and Android SDK on your computer before continuing. Java must be installed before the Android SDK.
Enable USB debugging on your Android. On the device, go into the Settings screen, tap Applications, tap Development, and enable the USB debugging check box
.
Connect your Android to your computer using its included USB cable. Don’t mount the device’s SD card on your computer – just plug it in.
You’ll also need the USB drivers for your phone or tablet installed. SuperOneClick itself should be able to automatically install the appropriate drivers – however, if this fails, you’ll need to download and install the appropriate drivers from the device manufacturer’s website.
Rooting With SuperOneClick
We’ll be rooting with SuperOneClick here. It’s a single-click way to root that supports a wide variety of different devices and should work for most people. If SuperOneClick doesn’t support your Android device, head over to the Android Development and Hacking forums at XDA Developers. There are subforums for most Android devices – type your device’s name into the search box and you’ll probably find information from other people that have successfully rooted it, perhaps by using another tool.
You can find download links for SuperOneClick at shortfuse.org, SuperOneClick’s official website. After downloading it, run the SuperOneClick.exe application.
Click the Root button in the SuperOneClick window and SuperOneClick should do the rest.
The process will take a few minutes. If you run into a problem, you might want to check the XDA Developers forum for your device, which we mentioned above, or run a Google search.
Restart your Android after rooting it.
Superuser
SuperOneClick automatically installs the SuperUser binary, which is also available from Google Play. Whenever an app on your device attempts to gain root permissions by calling the su command (just like calling the su command on Linux) you’ll be prompted to allow or deny the request.
Open the Superuser app to control the saved permissions and configure Superuser.
Now you’re free to install and use apps that require root access. We’ll have more coverage of things you can do with a rooted Android in the near future.
After rooting your device, you have full access to the entire system and can run special types of apps that require root permissions. These apps can disable bloatware, control app permissions, enable tethering, and do lots of other cool things.
What is “Root,” Anyway?
Warnings
Before you root your Android phone or tablet, there are a few things you should be aware of:
Warranty – Some manufacturers assert that rooting voids your device’s warranty. However, rooting will not actually damage your hardware. You can “unroot” your device and manufacturers won’t be able to tell if it’s been rooted.
Security – Google Wallet, in particular, has a vulnerability on rooted devices that could allow other apps to access your PIN and other wallet information. Google Wallet displays a warning message if you run it on a rooted device. If you’re one of the few people using Google Wallet for NFC payments, you may want to reconsider rooting your device.
We’ll have more coverage of things you can do with a rooted Android in the near future.

ipad mini release data locked, ipad mini prises change to new prise
So the news and rumors are in, and the iPad Mini release date is all but written in stone. Tuesday brought invitations to the iPad Mini announcement, now set for Oct. 23, confirmed. What's still up in the air for an iPad Mini release is what will be previewed at the event (iPad Mini, improved iPad and enhanced iBooks all possible), as well as the date orders will be open and what will be the actual iPad Mini release date. Best guesses so far put the timetable at some of what I was projecting last week ... which was orders on Oct. 26 and the actual iPad Mini release date on Nov. 2. This week the consensus has changed a bit ... iPad Mini announcement on Oct. 23, and orders will be open right away following the announcement, which means that the iPad Mini release date will be Nov.2, nine days later. TechCrunch is supporting this theory as well as many others. There's some new thoughts on iPad Mini price as well, different than the last week, below.
iPad Mini Release Date
i guess it makes sense that the iPad Mini release date would remain the same as projected before, but skip the in between date of opening orders on Friday, although it’s still unclear as to what the actual timetable will be. It became official as an iPad Mini announcement this week as Apple sent off their invitations saying "We’ve got a little more to show you," in line with Apple's tradition of trying to reveal a clue as to what the event might be about. Little = mini in this case, so each little nugget of information adds credibility to the cause.
“Apple’s iPad mini is almost certainly set to be announced next week at an event in San Jose Tuesday, and we’re now hearing that it will ship a week and a half after that unveiling” reads the report from TechCrunch, who also cited similar reports from 9to5Mac and Geeky Gadgets, plus there were items in iMore and iFun as well.
iPad Mini Price
Although previous estimates on the iPad Mini price (including my own) have been in the $200 - $300 range, talk this week centered around higher prices than that. Theories are based on Apple being a high-end retail product, so to keep that in line with the iPad Mini price means a price a little higher than the others, but close enough to put them in roughly the same category. It's the old retail theory: do you price lower and make it up in volume, or do you price higher and sell less units but at a higher cost?
Forget what we've learned about a $10 bottle of wine compared to $100 bottle of wine, Apple always sells premium and it's part of their brand image. It makes sense that the iPad Mini price could follow that lead. Best projections I've heard this week (9to5Mac and Apple Insider) are for a starting iPad Mini price of $329 for a wi-fi-only model, putting them just an edge above the Amazon Kindle Fire and Android tablets, but still in the same category. iPad Mini tablets will go up in price by $100 from there for each new storage level + with wireless connectivity, so $329 / $429 / $529 for each model. It's also expected that Apple will phase out the iPad 2 to avoid making the product line confusing, keeping it clean and focusing on the future.
iPad Mini Features
As for any forecast of what the effect of the iPad Mini will be on the competition, Analyst Shaw Wu let it fly this week that he believes that it will be "the competition's worst nightmare," according to AppleInsider and is following (albeit loosely) the same prices as above. I’m not so sure it will have a devastating effect, everybody’s been making mobile phones for a while, and although the iPhone is a very popular item, there’s actually more Android phones in use.
As for iPad Mini features, it looks like it will be a 7.85" (diagonal) screen, the consensus is largely divided between the A5 processor (same as previous iPad) and the A6 processor (used in iPhone 5). I prefer the A6 processor idea, because once you move forward in speed, it makes no sense to look back. Why would Apple use the A5 when it could use a newer, faster processor that's already in use in other products? Other iPad Mini features: there's a split between whether or not it will use a retina display-quality screen, with a focus on how that will affect app development and sizing issues. It's possible Apple could announce a refresh to the iPad 3, with improvements to the connector (upgrade to the new Lightning Connector), as well as general enhancements like slightly longer battery life and better connectivity via LTE. These are general upgrades that happen with each new iPad and iPhone release, so I'm not sure why Apple would choose now to do that instead of with the iPad 4. What's the rush? I'm missing the motivation here, anybody have any ideas?
So where does this leave YOU? Will you buy an iPad Mini? Is this the price range or size you’ve been waiting for? Are you in the other camp, do you see Google Nexus or other Android tablets as better and what do you use and why? Or are you an Amazon Prime or Amazon Books person use the Amazon Kindle Fire? What do you think of the iPad Mini and can it compete?

nokia business news
HELSINKI — Nokia Corp. reported that its third quarter net loss widened further to 969 million euro ($1.27 billion) with a 19 percent plunge in revenue, as it struggles against the dominance of Samsung and the iPhone in the tough smartphone market.
Net sales dropped to 7.2 billion euro ($9.45 billion), and Nokia gave a grim outlook for the rest of the year as it prepares for this fall’s launch of Microsoft Corp.’s new phone software, Windows Phone 8.
The Finnish firm said sales of its flagship Lumia phones — its first Windows-based devices launched a year ago — dropped to 2.9 million units from 4 million in the previous quarter. It acknowledged it expects no quick gains from the new Windows launch, warning that the current three-month period would be “challenging ... with a lower-than-normal benefit from seasonality in volumes.”
Nokia also failed to say when and where the new Lumia 920 and 820 will be launched, except that it will be in “selective” markets during the current quarter.
Investors, some of which had been expecting a bigger drop in sales, pushed Nokia’s share price up more than 10 percent during the day, but the gains did not last. The shares closed at 2.22 ($2.91) euro — up only 1 percent — on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
In 2011, the third-quarter net loss was of €68 million on revenues of 8.9 billion euro . While this year’s loss was deeper than analysts’ forecast for a 610 million euro shortfall, sales beat expectations of 6.99 billion euro.
Analyst Hannu Rauhala from Pohjola bank in Helsinki said Nokia’s performance had been a mild surprise.
“The worst fears are over ... and Nokia’s network operations were clearly better than expected,” he said.
The company said its feature phones had shown strong sales on the previous quarter and Nokia Siemens Networks — its former lossmaking joint venture with Germany’s Siemens AG — had seen 3 percent revenue growth in the period with an operating profit of €182 million.
